Summary:
Craig Technologies has an opening for a Biomedical Engineer at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will play a role in the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of workplace health hazards from chemical, physical or biological stressors, at all NASA facilities at Johnson Space Center, Ellington Field and Sonny Carter Training Facility. You perform functions to provide technical expertise and to monitor and report on operations related to Occupational Health programs supporting the Space Medicine Operations Division in the Human Health and Performance Directorate. The Occupational Health programs you’ll support include: Asbestos Evaluation and Control, Workplace Health Inspections, Food Service Sanitation Inspections, Chemical Exposure Assessments, Hearing Conservation, Indoor Environmental Quality/Mold Evaluations, Ventilation, Complaint Investigations, Emergency Response, and Construction Oversight.
You Will:
- Perform evaluations and assessments of work areas
- Establish, plan, and schedule sampling strategies for special monitoring projects
- Collect samples and prepare chain of custody for submission to analytical laboratory
- Calibrate and operate direct reading instruments and sampling equipment
- Prepare written reports and recommend corrective actions
- Conduct ventilation surveys of assigned Ventilation Systems
- Conduct Respirator Fit testing
- Provide secondary emergency response and stand-by support
- Review procedures and plans for new tests, research, programs, activities, and construction
- Support meetings with managers, supervisors, engineers and workers
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING:
You use your experience and judgment to protect the health of the Civil Servant and contractor workforce. You comply with KBR’s Safety, Health and Environmental Plan, Quality Plan, and all safety policies and procedures, and complete all assigned training.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma/GED required
- Four (4) years of experience in the field or related area
YOUR SKILLS:
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license
- Ability to perform physical field work, including climbing ladders while carrying equipment and transporting equipment over 20 lbs. to field locations.
- Able to wear a negative pressure respirator and a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) in the performance of assigned duties
WHAT TO EXPECT:
This position is expected to be 100% on site and 100% in person. Occasional travel may be required.
