Industrial Insulator Journeyman (MGR)

Job Description

GreenWood, Inc. is now actively recruiting applicants for our Insulator Journeyman position. We are looking for applicants who are interested in a Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt position at the Mitsubishi site in Greer, SC. Employees normally work Monday through Thursday, 7:00am-5:30pm, 40 hours per week and occasional overtime as needed. We are currently looking for an applicant who is interested in a position without the need to travel. GreenWood does not offer per diem at this job site.

The Insulator Journeyman applies insulating materials to process piping, ductwork, or other mechanical systems in order to help control and maintain temperature.

Position Responsibilities - Essential

• Measures and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors
• Removes old insulation, following safety procedures
• Fits insulation around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required
• Determines the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape, and equipment use
• Installs metal around insulated pipes in order to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage
• Selects appropriate insulation based on the heat retaining or excluding characteristics of the material
• Reads blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements
• Applies and seals the specific called for insulation “Finish” in a safe and neat appearance
• Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
• Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and process piping equipment
• Knowledge of specifications and limitations of insulation materials
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast paced environment
• Demonstrates a high level of customer service and strong communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job but with minimal direct supervision
• Good knowledge of tools and the functions of them
• An understanding of the Safety Requirements for equipment and tools
• Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)

Beneficial Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and process piping equipment

• Good sense of housekeeping and organizational skills
