We are currently looking to fill an industrial Maintenance Technician position that will be based in Fresno, California.

Key Contacts: Operations Staff including Label Production, Production Control, Stores, Shipping & Receiving, Other On-site Staff, Suppliers and Service Providers (vendors)

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide production line maintenance coverage to keep equipment in top condition to support production needs and keep the work environment in a safe operating condition.
  • Perform installation, preventative maintenance, and repairs on equipment, administer a predictive maintenance program and participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Provide maintenance support to the plant facilities including oversight and coordination of visiting contractors.

Key Administrative Requirements

  • Review, prioritize, and close work orders using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Complete and record maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment checklist in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance request originators, managers, supervisors, production teams, and external vendors or contractors to ensure clear understanding and proper follow-through on maintenance activities.
  • Document safety inspections and incident reports as required.
  • Maintain documentation for ISO & BRC audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Create requisitions for spare parts and manage supplier communications.
  • Review vendor service reports for accuracy and to help drive continuous improvement.
  • Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow safe working practices (e.g., guidelines, policies, and regulations) and help to promote the “Work Safe, Home Safe” culture throughout the plant.
  • Immediately address observed safety hazards including near misses, recordable and first aid incidents and report them to the site manager.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of machinery by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production machines and systems by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications, etc.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and locate sources of problems by discussing machine operation variations with operations staff and other maintenance workers, observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, using precision measuring and testing instruments; determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, callipers, micrometer, and other measuring instruments, etc.
  • Repair and install machinery and equipment including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, instrumentation and controls; adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments; fabricate repair parts using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, presses, and hand and power tools, etc.; examine form and texture of parts and replace parts using similar methods.
  • Administer a preventive maintenance program; document maintenance procedures and assist in the control of the documents; maintain equipment parts min-max quantities and anticipates needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends; ensure reliability and maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs; provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and establishing personal networks.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, line-clearance and regulations.
  • Performs general facility related repairs.
  • Work on other duties and project responsibilities as assigned.
  • There are times the maintenance technician may need to be called into work outside of scheduled hours, including call backs, to address critical issues and to ensure production continues and customer needs are met.

Qualifications


  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school. Training must include 3 phase 480-600V voltage installations and repairs.
  • Valid State driver’s license
  • State Electrical Certificate
  • General Journeyman Electrician
  • PLC training certificate
  • Forklift operator’s training certificate


Experience


  • 3-5 years related experience performing similar maintenance functions.
  • Experience overseeing and working with contractors / vendors.


Skills / Abilities


  • Comprehension: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, schematics and operating procedure manuals in English.
  • Correspondence: Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization in English.
  • Mathematics: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, and electrical schematics. Strong troubleshooting ability.
