Industrial Maintenance Mechanic A *2nd Shift

A. SUMMARY

Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in the Plant by performing the following duties.

B. DUTIES

Essential Duties: These duties directly and substantially serve to achieve

the purpose of the position.

1. Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.

2. Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.

3. Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.

4. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.

5. Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.

6. Layout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

7. Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment.

8. Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.

9. Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

10. Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.

C. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (All requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with a disability)

Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Constant walking, frequently climbing ladders, stairs, etc.

Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy conditions caused by the weather. Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch or level sufficient to require hearing protection. Exposure to constant or intermittent dusty area.

D. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

E. LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Fluent in English and/or Spanish.
