New Way Trucks is currently seeking an Industrial Manufacturing Engineer to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for developing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality. This role works closely with production, quality, and supply chain teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices in a manufacturing environment.
Your Role in our Mission:
- Develop, evaluate, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain high-quality standards using lean manufacturing principles.
- Analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Lead and support lean initiatives, Kaizen events, and other continuous improvement projects.
- Support new product launches by developing, validating, and documenting manufacturing processes and tooling.
- Create, update, and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), routings, and other process documentation.
- Design layouts of equipment, materials, and workspaces to maximize efficiency and safety.
- Conduct time and motion studies to enhance labor utilization and production output.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including production, quality, maintenance, engineering, and supply chain to resolve issues and drive improvements.
- Troubleshoot production problems and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize downtime and defects.
- Evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of new equipment, tools, fixtures, and manufacturing technologies.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in cost reduction initiatives through process optimization, material usage analysis, and labor efficiency improvements.
- Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and line balancing to maximize productivity and capacity utilization
To Perform this Job Successfully:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or similar).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production equipment, and shop-floor operations.
- Knowledge and/or experience in welding and industrial metal fabrication, including laser cutting and press brake operations, is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement tools (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
- Proficiency in CAD software; experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
- Experience with CNC programming and nesting software such as SigmaNEST is a plus.
- Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Epicor ERP is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
