Industrial Mechanic (10pm-6:30am)

Summary: The Electro Mechanic maintains, tests and repairs electrical systems and equipment in a variety of settings. Responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical machinery and systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures strict safety procedures are followed to avoid electrical accidents
• Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards and to ensure they are compliant
• Diagnoses and repairs electrical problems, including issues for Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), heaters, dies, pumps, air compressors, chillers, conveyors, motors machinery malfunction and other electrical control equipment
• Reads and interprets electrical drawings and schematics
• Installs and replaces electrical equipment and fixtures, such as switches, circuit breakers, disconnect light assemblies, junction boxes, conduit-using benders and calipers
• Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuit to ensure compatibility and safety of system using prevision instrumentation such as electrician multimeter and meggers
• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges
• Controls downtime by informing production personnel of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
• Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt
• Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions, requests and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, and reports any unsafe conditions immediately
• Completes all necessary paperwork pertaining to this position.
• Performs other duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications:

• Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Analytical, detail-oriented and able to think creatively
• Sound judgment, high level of integrity and professionalism.
• Ability to learn utilities equipment, such as steam and hot water boilers, Katabar Systems, air compressors, chillers and water clarifying pumping system.

Education/Experience:

• Associate’s degree in electrical Power Technology or completion of an electrical apprenticeship is preferred.
• Proven work experience as an Electrical Maintenance Technician or Mechanic; Welding and plumbing experience is required
• 3-5 years of relevant experience with electrical troubleshooting industrial and commercial electrical systems is preferred
