Industrial Mechanic I - Dallas, Texas - Night Shift

JOB SUMMARY:

The Industrial Mechanic I will provide overall support to our maintenance team and ensure our manufacturing equipment remains operational. This role will be responsible for assisting with maintaining, repairing, and installing industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment. In addition, the Industrial Mechanic I will provide support in operating pillow production machinery when needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Quickly responds to service requests, production line calls and internal customer needs.
  • Maintains production areas and ensures all inside and outside areas are free from debris and other hazards, providing a safe and clean working environment.
  • Assists with the daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual preventative maintenance activities for all plant equipment.
  • Contributes towards improving the maintenance system and associated procedures.
  • Assists with repairing manufacturing and production line equipment.
  • Loads raw materials into production equipment.
  • Enters information regarding the total units completed per order into the computer.
  • Ensures the setup and operation of production equipment to maximize through-put while minimizing machine downtime.
  • Performs required setup and machine changes that may occur due to order changeover and various external influences such as weather and raw material changes.
  • Provides reports on accurate downtime and runtime for each work order, as well as other pertinent production information.
  • Enforces Company safety policies to prevent employee accidents and injuries.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience is preferred
  • 0-1 year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Basic measuring capabilities using tape measures and digital calipers is required
  • Experience with basic equipment repair and hand tools is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work an altered schedule as needed, to accommodate business needs
  • Basic Math skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to withstand periods sitting at a desk as needed
  • Occasional use of upper extremities to perform keyboard functions and work on a computer
  • Ability to frequently lift objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds
  • Ability to frequently carry objects weighing up to and including 25 pounds
  • Ability to push and/or pull objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds
  • Ability to withstand exposure to extreme climate variations; exposure to heat and cold
  • Ability to crawl, bend, kneel, climb and/or squat
  • Ability to occasionally stand/walk

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
