Industrial Real Estate Development Intern

Role Overview

Hernandez Construction is seeking a motivated Intern to support our development and analyst teams in the Fort Lauderdale office. This role provides direct exposure to the full lifecycle of industrial real estate projects. You will work closely with Marco and our lead analysts to execute financial underwriting, asset management, and cross-functional project coordination.

This is a hands-on opportunity to apply academic practicum to large-scale development projects. Successful interns may be considered for full-time positions within the company upon completion of the program.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Underwriting: Assist in underwriting new acquisition opportunities and updating complex financial models.
• Project Accounting: Maintain budget trackers and reconcile month-end bank statements to ensure project accuracy.
• Asset Management: Update management models and support ongoing reporting for the current portfolio.
• Operations Support: Process and organize invoices across multiple active projects and assist with ad hoc management analysis.
• Systems Implementation: Support the accounting and IT teams in rolling out new reporting infrastructure across our development projects.

Learning Objectives & Outcomes

• Gain a deep understanding of the industrial development lifecycle from acquisition to execution.
• Develop technical proficiency in debt and capital structuring.
• Collaborate across departments, including construction, design, accounting, and IT.
• Build a foundation in institutional-grade reporting and asset management processes.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a related degree program (Real Estate, Finance, Business, or Construction Management).
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on financial modeling and Excel.
• Ability to work on-site at our Las Olas office.
• Detail-oriented approach to budget reconciliation and data organization.
