Digital Plant- Industry Director
The Digital Plant Industry Director is responsible for driving Vertech’s sales growth and market leadership for Digital Plant solutions, including MES, MOM, and SCADA projects. This role will focus on expanding Vertech’s presence through direct key account engagement and collaboration with field sales teams to develop new business opportunities.
The Industry Director will build a deep understanding of the Digital Plant market, shape go-to-market strategies, and guide sales and marketing activities to support growth objectives. Reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketing, this position will collaborate closely with the Director of Digital Plant and other executive team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality, profitable projects that strengthen Vertech’s position in the market.
Ultimately, this individual is accountable for Vertech’s sales success and profitability in the Digital Plant sector. Success will be measured by the ability to achieve top-line growth (sales and gross profit), maintain strong customer relationships, and support cross-functional execution that meets both quality and financial goals.
Essential Job Functions
Your specific duties as a Practice Lead will include:
- Strategic Market Leadership
- Deeply understand the target market, including market dynamics, regulatory trends, key players, and emerging technologies.
- Define and continuously refine Vertech’s strategic positioning and value proposition within the target market.
- Develop and communicate a long-term roadmap for growth, aligning business goals, market opportunities, and organizational capabilities.
- Sales Activity and Leadership
- Deliver sales and profit that meet annual goals on a recurring basis through direct selling activity and by working with field sales teams on market specific accounts and opportunities.
- Mange key account relationships in the target market with both customers, vendors and partners.
- Directly manage key account sales pursuits and provide guidance to the sales organization with strategic insight, sales coaching and support, customer relationship-building, and executive-level engagement.
- Manage sales funnel for target market, ensuring sufficient funnel activity to meet sales goals and delivering accurate sales forecasts on a weekly/monthly basis.
- Marketing and Business Development Leadership Alignment
- Partner with the marketing team to ensure all external messaging, content, and campaigns reflect Vertech’s strategic position and thought leadership in target market.
- Collaborate with the sales organization to develop market penetration tactics, including target client lists, customer personas, and engagement strategies.
- Operational Excellence and Capability Alignment
- Work closely with operations and engineering leadership to maintain and grow the technical skillsets and resources necessary to meet evolving market demands.
- Ensure Vertech’s project delivery in the target market maintains high standards of quality, scope adherence, and profitability.
- Provide strategic input to resource planning and training initiatives that strengthen delivery capabilities in alignment with market needs.
- Partnerships, Vendors, and Technology Strategy
- Build and maintain partnerships with key industry vendors, associations, and strategic allies to expand Vertech’s presence and access to market opportunities.
- Collaborate with operations and technology teams to align vendor relationships and technology stacks with both client needs and Vertech’s long-term strategic direction.
- Thought Leadership and Industry Presence
- Represent Vertech as an industry thought leader through conference participation, speaking engagements, publications, and professional networks.
- Monitor emerging technologies, best practices, and competitive movements to position Vertech as a forward-thinking leader in the target market.
- Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration across the company, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline; MBA or equivalent business education preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in the target market, with a focus on MOM, MES, manufacturing, continuous improvement and digital transformation.
- Proven track record of strategic leadership, sales performance, market development, or business unit management in a technical organization.
- Experience working with multiple MOM, MES and SCADA.
- Strong understanding of production processes, regulatory considerations, and operational challenges in the target market.
- Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
- Strategic thinker with demonstrated success in driving growth and market differentiation.
- Strong business acumen and ability to interpret key financial and operational metrics.
- Collaborative leader comfortable working cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and operations.
- Availability to travel up to 30%.
Performance Metrics
Success in this role will be measured by:
- Achieving defined revenue and profitability goals on a consistent basis for the target market.
- Providing sufficient sales funnel opportunities on a recurring basis to meet Vertech sales goals and effectively managing sales forecasts on a weekly/monthly basis to allow for visibility into future revenue trends.
- Generating a high level of visibility for Vertech in the target industry including trade event presentations, publications and a strong growth of premier logos in the target market.
- Building lasting relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
