Friendship Academy is seeking a qualified, enthusiastic, and energetic Teacher Assistant to support one of our infant classrooms. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment where infants can thrive physically, socially, and emotionally.
Under the direction of the School Director, the Teacher is responsible for the implementation of the curriculum and management of the classroom environment and Friendship Academy educational programs. The Teacher Assistant plays a vital role in helping create a secure and developmentally appropriate learning space for infants.

Interact positively and respectfully with each child. Greet children enthusiastically and build professional rapport with families to ensure quality care and service. Maintain a positive, nurturing atmosphere that promotes guidance and learning, following established staff-to-child ratios.

Support and respond to children’s diverse learning styles and developmental needs. Actively engage with children during meals and snacks. Assist with clothing, hygiene, and bathroom needs as appropriate. Share relevant observations with the Lead Teacher or Director.

Assist with the implementation of curriculum and educational activities as directed by the Lead Teacher and according to Friendship Academy’s guidelines. Help engage families in the program and communicate curriculum goals.

Use required tools and resources to communicate clearly and respectfully with families both verbally and in writing.

Follow the Friendship Academy Safety and Supervision Manual. Support compliance with all licensing and government health and safety standards as mandated by OSHA and the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care. Promptly document and report any incidents per policy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to follow Bottle-Feeding Procedures and Safe Sleep Policies
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Education:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred
Experience:
- Must meet the minimum experience required by the State of Oregon
- Prior experience in an early childhood setting preferred
Training Requirements:
- 15 hours of early childhood-related professional development annually
- Completion of all state-mandated trainings within the required timeframe
Additional Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
