(This is a position that requires the successful candidate to complete 12 child development units as outlined in Title 22 prior to being bumped up to teacher pay- not shown in this job posting. The successful candidate will be trained in all of the job duties listed below.)

Plans and implements activities that promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth of infants and toddlers. Responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate environment. Must comply with all relevant state regulations as well as center policies and procedures. Responsible for communicating directly with parents by giving daily updates on children’s activities and other details specific to child's day.

Principal Duties:

  • Maintain daily schedule as posted in the classroom
  • Create and implement lesson plans
  • Consider the individual child in relationship to his/her culture when creating lesson plans
  • Ensure curriculum is appropriately carried out in the indoor and the outdoor environment.
  • Maintain a classroom that is clean, safe, stimulating, and appropriate for each child’s developmental level
  • Maintain classroom records
  • Make families feel welcome at all times; greet parent and child at arrival and parent at departure while maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Assume an equal share of classroom housekeeping duties
  • Promote healthy eating practices through participating in family style meals
  • Maintain licensing requirements for ratio and supervision
  • Complete DRDP+’s in a timely manner and relay to parents at conferences
  • Understand and implement all regulations for playground safety
  • Hold parent conferences as needed
  • Identify special needs of children and or families
  • Understand and comply with Title 22
  • Participate in special events, fundraising and participation in professional conferences
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Candidate must also:

  • Be motivated and able to take initiative.
  • Be capable of reaching, lifting, stooping, bending, and moderate physical exertion. Ability to stand 90% of the day.
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds

And:

  • Follow all center policies
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with children, families, and staff
  • Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and supervisors
  • Maintain positive attendance practices by being on time to work and maintaining a positive PTO balance
  • Understand responsibilities of being a mandated reporter
  • Be able to be flexible in assignment and work hours required
  • Have current CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Have all required immunizations
  • Complete and pass all State mandated computer trainings

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred, ECE units to satisfy CCL requirements, 6 months experience as a preschool teacher

Reports: to the Program Coordinators and Director

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

  • Irvine, CA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
