Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily rounds in wards, ICUs, OT, and other clinical areas to monitor infection control practices.
- Identify, investigate, and report healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
- Maintain records of infection rates, antibiograms, and outbreak investigations.
- Enforce hospital infection control policies, SOPs, and standard precautions.
- Ensure adherence to hand hygiene, use of PPE, biomedical waste management, and sterilization protocols.
- Monitor disinfection and cleaning practices in all departments.
- Organize regular training sessions for nurses, doctors, and support staff on infection prevention.
- Educate staff about hand hygiene, aseptic techniques, isolation precautions, and outbreak management.
- Conduct mock drills for infection control preparedness.
- Conduct infection control audits in clinical and non-clinical areas.
- Ensure compliance with NABH, JCI, and statutory infection control standards.
- Participate in hospital infection control committee (HICC) meetings and prepare audit reports.
- Work closely with the Infection Control Officer, Microbiologist, and Quality Team.
- Report infection trends and outbreaks to the HICC and management.
- Coordinate with housekeeping, biomedical, and maintenance teams for corrective actions.
- Support outbreak investigations and implement containment measures.
- Guide staff during events such as needle stick injuries, exposure to infectious diseases, or contamination.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) from a recognized institution.
- Certification/Training in Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) (mandatory/preferred).
- Valid Nursing Registration with State Nursing Council.
2. Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years of clinical nursing experience.
- At least 1–2 years’ experience in infection control/quality management preferred.
3. Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough knowledge of infection control standards, hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), and surveillance methods.
- Familiarity with national & international guidelines (NABH).
- Ability to conduct infection surveillance, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong skills in training and educating nursing/clinical staff on infection control practices.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Competence in using MS Office, EMR, and hospital reporting systems.
- Certification/Training in Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) (mandatory/preferred).
- Valid Nursing Registration with State Nursing Council.
