Job Summary:
The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for preventing and controlling infections within the hospital. The role includes surveillance, training, monitoring infection control practices, and ensuring compliance with hospital infection control policies and statutory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surveillance and Monitoring:
- Conduct daily hospital rounds to monitor infection control practices in all departments.
- Identify, track, and report hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).
- Maintain infection control surveillance data and prepare monthly reports.
- Policy Implementation:
- Ensure adherence to hospital infection control protocols, biomedical waste management, and sterilization practices.
- Participate in formulating and reviewing infection control policies and guidelines.
- Training and Education:
- Conduct regular training sessions for hospital staff on hand hygiene, use of PPE, biomedical waste segregation, and infection prevention.
- Create awareness among staff about infection control measures.
- Audits and Compliance:
- Carry out infection control audits and inspections in wards, ICUs, OT, and other critical areas.
- Coordinate with the housekeeping and CSSD departments for disinfection and sterilization validation.
- Outbreak Management:
- Assist in investigation and control of infection outbreaks.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordination and Reporting:
- Submit infection control data and reports to management and quality department.
- Documentation:
- Maintain records of infection control training, audits, and infection incidents.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all infection-related activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: B.Sc. Nursing / GNM with specialized training or certification in Infection Control (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience in hospital infection control or nursing (ICU/OT preferred).
- Skills:
- Knowledge of infection control standards and hospital hygiene protocols.
- Good communication, observation, and documentation skills.
- Ability to train and motivate staff.
