The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for preventing and controlling healthcare-associated infections within the facility. The role involves monitoring infection control practices, implementing policies, educating staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards to maintain a safe clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Infection Prevention & Control:
- Develop, implement, and monitor infection control policies and procedures
- Conduct regular surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)
- Identify infection risks and implement corrective and preventive measures
- Monitor sterilization, disinfection, and waste management practices
Monitoring & Audits:
- Perform regular infection control audits across all departments
- Ensure compliance with hand hygiene protocols and PPE usage
- Track and analyze infection rates and prepare reports
- Participate in outbreak investigation and management
Training & Education:
- Provide ongoing training and awareness programs for healthcare staff
- Educate staff on infection prevention practices and updates
- Conduct orientation sessions for new employees on infection control
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to hospital infection control policies and international standards
- Support accreditation processes (e.g., JCI or local regulatory requirements)
- Maintain proper documentation and reporting systems
Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Report infection trends and concerns to hospital management
- Participate in infection control committee meetings
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN or equivalent)
- Must hold an Infection Control diploma or certification
- Valid nursing license (e.g., NHRA – Bahrain or relevant authority)
- Certification or training in Infection Control (preferred)
- Minimum 2–4 years of clinical nursing experience
- Experience in infection control or quality department is an advantage

- Excellent communication and training abilities
- Ability to conduct audits and prepare reports
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
