Information Governance Analyst

We have an immediate opening for an Information Governance Analyst to play a key role in protecting the Firm’s information assets. This position supports the Firm’s confidentiality obligations, client service standards, and regulatory requirements by partnering closely with IT, practice teams, and business professionals to implement, monitor, and continually enhance the Firm’s information governance program. The Information Governance Analyst is a hybrid position (onsite 2+ days per week), reports to the Records and Information Governance Manager and is based in the San Francisco office.

The hourly range for the position of Information Governance Analyst at Nossaman is approximately $46.16 to $53.85 an hour. The successful candidate’s annual compensation for this position is reasonably expected to be set between $90,000 and $105,000 per year. However, actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Technology & Systems Enablement

  • Implement and manage technology solutions that support data governance and compliance requirements related to electronic information
  • Monitor compliance with Firm standards and external requirements related to data classification, retention, disposition, and defensibility
  • Support and administer governance‑related technology solutions across the Firm’s information environment
  • Identify and evaluate technology solutions that advance information governance capabilities and ensure new applications meet information governance requirements

Information Governance & Compliance

  • Conduct regular audits and generate reports on the performance and effectiveness of information governance controls across the assigned technology portfolio
  • Provide training and support to client teams and business professionals related to information governance concepts and processes
  • Provide analytical, technical, and process support for the Firm’s records management and retention programs.
  • Support for physical records management tasks, especially in local office

Training, Guidance & Continuous Improvement

  • Facilitate metrics gathering and reporting to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts
  • Document controls, workflows, audit, and other evidence of an effective information governance program
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across offices to promote consistent governance practices while addressing local operational needs

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, informatics or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in information governance or IT system administration, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting
  • Experience supporting and administering Microsoft 365 environments, including collaboration, compliance, and records management features
  • Strong understanding of information governance principles, including data classification, retention, and disposition
  • Experience with enterprise document management systems (e.g., iManage, NetDocuments, SharePoint), enterprise records management systems (e.g. IRM, LegalKey) and DMS administration tools (e.g. Litera CAM and PowerDesktop)
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations
  • Superior communication and teamwork skills
  • Professional demeanor and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Ability to travel occasionally to other offices
  • Lift, handle and move boxes of up to fifty (50) pounds

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with technology integration, migration, or process automation
  • Experience with enterprise data governance platforms such as Microsoft Purview or similar solutions.
  • Certifications such as IGP, CIP, CIPP, CGEIT
