The Information Security Administrator supports the Community College’s cybersecurity programs by administering, maintaining, and monitoring the security systems, servers, and applications used in the student‑run Security Operations Center (SOC), Cybersecurity Forensics Lab, and Cybercave (cyber program classroom). This role ensures the reliability, security, and effectiveness of cybersecurity infrastructure by installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining security hardware and software, including antivirus, web filtering, encryption, and network monitoring tools. The position is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive inventory of cybersecurity assets and tools to eliminate security blind spots, proactively monitoring information security systems, and conducting ongoing research on emerging threats, technologies, and industry trends. The administrator also performs data analysis and documentation required to maintain the National Center of Academic Excellence (NCAE) designation and supports compliance with state and federal cybersecurity standards. Through hands‑on technical support and infrastructure management, this role directly supports student learning, internships, workforce readiness, and the college’s strategic goals by providing a secure, real‑world learning environment that bridges education, industry, and career pathways.
30% Supports servers, systems and applications; installs, configures, analyzes, debugs, maintains and troubleshoots software and / or hardware in the Security Operations Center, Cybersecurity Forensics Lab and Cybercave.
20% Maintains an inventory of assets and tools to eliminate any potential security blind spots for the SOC, Forensics Lab, and Cybercave
20% Monitors network equipment and information security systems for the SOC, Forensics Lab, and Cybercave.
20% Routine research to stay current and proactive on threats and industry trends and data analysis used for reports and documentation required by the NCAE (National Center of Academic Excellence) designation by the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of War.
10% Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology, information security, computer science, cybersecurity, network security, or a related field and two (2) years of technical experience in the support of networks, systems, telecommunications and/or technology security.

An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or certifications sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Technical certifications may be used towards the substitution of the above-mentioned requirements for education and/or experience. Substitution amounts for certifications are based on the duration of time it takes to obtain the certification, the difficulty to obtain the certification, and/or the desirability of the certification as related to the business needs of the assignment.
A. Experience with SOC (Security Operation Center) environments, vulnerability triage, or incident response support.
B. Hands-on experience with common SOC tooling such as SIEM/Log management platforms, ticketing/ITSM (IT Service Management), vulnerability management or asset inventory concepts.
C. Experience using automation to reduce manual triages such as playbooks/runbooks, scripts, enrichment, dashboards, etc.
D. Strong networking experience (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, VPN, routing concepts).
E. Experience in both written and oral communications to write step-by-step triage playbooks/runbooks.
F. Industry certification such as Security+, Network+, Linux or RedHat+, SIEM-focused certs
G. One (1) year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years.
