Information Technology Assistant

Position Summary

The Information Technology Assistant provides crucial frontline technical support across the district. This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing staff and student devices, installing classroom audiovisual equipment, and ensuring reliable network connectivity. Additionally, this position plays a key role in the district’s community outreach by providing technical and audiovisual support for live-streamed, after-hours campus events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Device Management & Repair

  • Provide hardware and software support for a mixed-device fleet, including Windows PCs, Apple iPads, and Chromebooks.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform physical repairs on broken or malfunctioning student and staff devices.
  • Assist with the inventory, deployment, and collection of 1:1 campus devices.

Help Desk & End-User Support

  • Respond to, update, and resolve general IT service tickets in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist teachers and staff with daily technology needs, password resets, and software troubleshooting.

A/V & Infrastructure Installation

  • Mount, install, and configure classroom technology, including projectors, flat-screen TVs, and interactive flat panels.
  • Run, terminate, and test low-voltage network cabling across campus facilities.
  • Assist the network administration team with basic network troubleshooting, switch patching, and wireless access point connectivity issues.

Event Production & Live Streaming

  • Provide critical A/V setup and live-streaming support for after-hours district events.
  • Operate cameras, audio mixers, and streaming software/hardware for events including, but not limited to: varsity athletic events, band concerts, award assemblies, and graduation ceremonies.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Working knowledge of ChromeOS, Windows, and Apple iOS/iPadOS.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, cabling, Wi-Fi connectivity).
  • Experience with basic hand tools and power tools required for mounting hardware and running cables.
  • Familiarity with audiovisual equipment, cameras, and live-streaming platforms is highly preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

  • Physicality: This is a physically active role. The employee must frequently lift, move, or carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (e.g., interactive panels, TVs, boxes of devices).
  • Mobility: Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crawling under desks, and climbing ladders or scaffolding to run cable and install projectors.
  • Flexible Schedule: While standard working hours apply during the school day, this position requires frequent and flexible after-hours and weekend availability to support the district's athletic and extracurricular event schedule.
