Information Technology Infrastructure Intern - 2026
Tri-State is an electric utility. We have an Information Technology Infrastructure Intern opportunity for 2026. Students who have successfully completed two (2) to three (3) years of undergraduate study towards a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering from an accredited college or university are encouraged to apply. Seniors who will be graduating in December or are planning to attend graduate school in the Fall are also encouraged to apply.
This summer position offers students hands on experience to work in and learn various aspects of Tri-State’s Information Technology department.
Responsibilities:
Under supervision, the intern will be responsible for assisting in physical hardware installation, cabling, documentation, service provisioning and migration, setup of monitoring and ticketing, and decommissioning of old equipment.
Projects may include the following:
Data center upgrade for computers, storage and network.
Splunk monitoring and alerting.
Wi-Fi enhancement and UHF radio communication.
Job Requirements
Foundational understanding of IT infrastructure (hardware, OS, storage and networking).
Highly motivated self-starter who has a willingness to learn new technologies.
Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Duration, Work Schedule and Location
The duration of the summer internship will be from about the end of May until the end of August.
The work schedule includes Monday through Friday, eight hours per day, 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. or potential flexibility of hours upon approval, forty hours per week. There is a possibility of telecommuting 40% of the work week (Monday and Friday).
The position is located at the Northern Colorado Maintenance Center at 3761 Eureka Way, Frederick, CO 80516.
