POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Information Technology Specialist is responsible for the full management, maintenance, security, and support of all Tribal government information technology systems and infrastructure. The incumbent serves as the primary IT contact for the Tribal Office and associated departments, ensuring reliable system performance, data protection, and user support.
Works directly with Tribal Administration, to ensure that the safety of the Tribal Government is secure, including all business entities operated by the Tribe.
This classification is designed as a full-charge IT position responsible for hands-on technical support, systems administration, cybersecurity, and long-term planning. The position requires independent judgment, initiative, and the ability to manage all aspects of Tribal IT operations.
Information Technology Specialist Responsibilities:
· Provide end-user desktop or laptop computer and communications (i.e., desk phone,
cellular) support to all Tribal Government and Enterprise staff
· Prepare and deploy new computer systems for employees from procurement to deployment
· Track and maintain all single-installation and subscription software licensing
· Track all computer and peripheral inventory
· Develop understanding of existing server, network (wired and wireless), security, and communication systems and be able to serve as point of contact to service providers for system issues
· Ensure all conference room computers, monitors, and A/V systems are working and updated
· Establish daily/weekly local backup of Tribal information as directed
· Become familiar with existing computer-use
· Attend local, regional, and/or national trainings or conferences to maintain technical skills necessary to maintain relevant skill set
· Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot computers, servers, printers and peripheral equipment
· Manage and maintain tribal network infrastructure, including wired and wireless systems
· Administer user accounts, permissions, and access control for all systems
· Maintain and monitor cybersecurity systems, including antivirus, firewalls, and data protection protocols
· Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery systems
· Maintain inventory of all IT equipment, software licenses, and related assets
· Support audio/visual systems and provide technical assistance for Tribal Council meetings, presentations, and community events
· Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and documentation in accordance with Tribal and applicable Federal standards
· Coordinate with third-party vendors, consultants, and service providers as needed
· Assist with planning, budgeting, and implementation of IT projects and system upgrades
· Create a system wide password management system
· Other program duties, as assigned
Qualification, Experience, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Must have at least 5 years’ IT experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications in the following are a plus:
Comp-TIA A+, Network +, Security +, CISSP, MCSE (anything Microsoft), Cisco, ITIL
· Strong communication and facilitation skills with all levels of an organization
· Knowledge of network systems, including routers, switches, and wireless technologies
· Experience working with Microsoft Exchange and One Drive
· Experience with mobile device management systems and supporting Android and/or iPhone platforms
· Knowledge of information technology systems including, but not limited to, database management, computer networking, and telecommunications systems
· Demonstrated understanding of hardware and software characteristics and a general understanding of system features and their integration capabilities
· Ability to interpret, apply, and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Tribal policies,
laws, and regulations
· Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and data protection practices
· Ability to critically analyze, diagnose and creatively solve problems across multiple systems and platforms
· Ability to interpret policy directives, changes, and program compliance
· Ability to collect data and prepare written reports based on given information
· Ability to work individually and as part of a team in a diverse workplace
· Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users
· Ability to quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages
or other similar communication software
· Demonstrated understanding of software administration including purchasing and
tracking volume licensing
· Demonstrated project management skills including development, implementation, and
evaluation of short- and long-term projects
· Demonstrated ability to work independently, including setting and meeting critical
deadlines and timely follow-up on assignments
· Demonstrated understanding of Windows and SQL servers
· Ability to develop, analyze, and revise policies and procedures regarding the use of
information technology
· Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement when handling sensitive information
· Strong organizational and documentation skills
· Ability to lift and move equipment as needed
· Valid drivers license and ability to travel locally

Enterprise Rancheria Tribal Office - Oroville, CA.
Other Tribal Facilities or Businesses as needed
Normal work hours Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm
Evenings and weekends - Standby
SALARY RANGE: $100,000 DOE / Negotiable
WAIVER OF EDUCATIONAL OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The Tribal Council may waiver the educational or experience requirements based on the evaluation of experience of the applicant.
