Information Technology Support Technician

About the Company: For 75 years, Coda Resources has been an innovative leader in manufacturing and distribution. Our primary focus is producing supplies for the HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and automotive industries. This role is currently based at our primary regional headquarters and distribution center in Glendale Heights. Please note that the position is expected to transition to our new Joliet warehouse location in Q4, 2026. This is an on-site position.

Position Summary: The Information Technology System Support Technician provides front-line technical support to office and warehouse users across the organization. This role supports end-user computing, warehouse technology, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (D365 BC), ensuring warehouse operations, shipping, and inventory processes run smoothly. The technician works closely with warehouse staff, logistics, and IT to troubleshoot system issues and maintain reliable, secure technology in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Requirements:
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (D365 BC)
    • Familiarity w/warehouse management systems (WMS), barcode scanning, or shipping software
    • Experience supporting inventory, shipping, and logistics processes
    • Exposure to ticketing systems and IT asset management tools
    • Basic PowerShell or scripting experience
    • IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications

Key Responsibilities

End-User & Systems Support

  • Provide Tier 1 & 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, peripherals
  • Respond to help desk tickets, emails, and walk-up requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Troubleshoot operating system, application, network, and user access issues
  • Set up, configure, deploy, and maintain end-user hardware and software
  • Assist with user account management in Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and D365 BC
  • Support onboarding and offboarding of employees, including account creation, equipment setup, and access provisioning

Warehouse & Distribution Technology Support

  • Provide hands-on support for warehouse floor systems including:
    • Barcode scanners and handheld devices
    • Label printers, shipping printers, and workstations
    • Warehouse PCs, tablets, and kiosks
  • Support Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (D365 BC) users in warehouse-related functions such as receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory transactions
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting of warehouse management system (WMS) add-ons and integrations connected to D365 BC
  • Support shipping systems, carriers, and label software as required
  • Work directly with warehouse and logistics teams to resolve operational system issues quickly
  • Assist during physical inventory counts, system validations, cycle counts from an IT perspective

Network, Security, and Operations

  • Perform basic wired and wireless network troubleshooting (warehouse connectivity, APs, VPN access)
  • Install updates, patches, and endpoint security tools on workstations and warehouse devices
  • Escalate complex system, network, or application issues to System Administrators, D365 BC Administrators, or vendors
  • Maintain accurate documentation for assets, configurations, and resolved issues
  • Assist w/IT projects such as warehouse system upgrades, hardware refreshes, software rollouts
  • Promote and reinforce IT security and data protection best practices across office and warehouse environments

Knowledge and Qualifications

    • Associate degree in I.T, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
    • 1–3+ years of experience in an IT support, help desk, or technical support role
    • Experience supporting users in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment
    • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and standard business applications
    • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Wi-Fi, VPN)
    • Ability to work effectively in both office and warehouse floor settings
    • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills
    • Customer-focused mindset with ability to support both office staff and warehouse personnel
    • Clear and professional communication with technical and non-technical users
    • Strong attention to detail and documentation
    • Ability to prioritize issues in a fast-paced operational environment
    • Willingness to learn warehouse workflows, systems, and business processes
