Infrastructure Systems Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join our growing technology team within a regulated financial services environment. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our virtualised infrastructure, supporting business-critical platforms and high-net-worth client services.

You will take ownership of our VMware and VDI environments, backup and disaster recovery strategy, and core infrastructure services, ensuring high availability and regulatory compliance at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage VMware vSphere environments, including datastores, snapshots, templates, and virtual networking
• Administer and optimise Omnissa Horizon (Horizon 8+) VDI environments, including:
• Connection Servers and Unified Access Gateways (UAG)
• Instant and linked clone pools
• App Volumes and User Environment Manager
• Performance tuning and end-user experience optimisation
• Manage backup and disaster recovery using Veeam Backup & Replication:
• Backup jobs, replication, SureBackup
• Scale-out repositories, tape, and cloud integrations
• Ensure adherence to RPO/RTO and retention policies (GFS models)
• Maintain and support core infrastructure services:
• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and PKI
• Administer Windows Server and Linux environments (Debian/RHEL-based)
• Oversee storage and SAN technologies:
• iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, VMFS
• Snapshot management and provisioning strategies (thin/thick)
• Configure and support virtual networking:
• vSwitches, distributed switches, VLAN tagging, NIC teaming
• General networking (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers)
• Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems:
• Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, VMware Aria/vRealize, Elastic Stack
• Drive automation and scripting initiatives to improve efficiency:
• PowerCLI, PowerShell, Bash, or Python

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as an Infrastructure / Systems Engineer in enterprise or financial services environments
• Strong hands-on expertise with VMware vSphere, Aria Suite, and vSphere Replication, Omnissa Horizon (VDI), Veeam Backup & Replication
• Solid understanding of backup strategies, DR planning, and high availability
• Experience with Active Directory, DNS, and PKI
• Strong knowledge of virtualisation storage and networking concepts
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
• Scripting/automation experience is highly desirable

Preferred Requirement

• Exposure to storage vendors such as Dell, NetApp, or Huawei
• Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., financial services, ADGM/FSRA)
• Familiarity with cloud integration and hybrid infrastructure
