Infusion Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and immunizations, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
  • Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization (including urinary and vascular access), and wound care to support patient recovery.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient care activities and medical records.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals in managing acute pain, trauma cases, infectious diseases, or chronic conditions such as geriatrics or behavioral health needs.
  • Assist in diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, radiology procedures like sonography or mammography, and respiratory support such as ventilator management.
  • Provide education on health coaching, medication administration, discharge planning, and post-acute care instructions to patients and their families.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards while ensuring patient safety at all times.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license (RN) in good standing with the appropriate state licensing board.
  • Proven experience in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine, ICU/CCU/Trauma centers (Level I or II trauma experience), emergency room (ER) or urgent care settings.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical documentation practices.
  • Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; familiarity with laboratory testing procedures and specimen processing is preferred.
  • Critical care experience including ventilator management, ICU procedures, or post-operative care is highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform complex procedures such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, tube feeding management, ostomy care, or spinal taps confidently.
  • Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, patient education, case management, and working with individuals with disabilities or special needs such as dementia or developmental disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments like emergency medicine or acute care units while maintaining attention to detail and patient safety standards.
