About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Injection Mold Tool Designer to join our tooling engineering team. You will be responsible for the complete design and development of new injection molds (from single-cavity prototypes to high-cavitation production tools) while collaborating closely with product design, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design complex, high-precision injection molds (hot runner systems, unscrewing molds, overmolding, multi-shot, valve-gated, etc.) using 3D CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks preferred)
• Perform mold-flow analysis (Moldex3D, Autodesk Moldflow, or SigmaSoft) to optimize gate location, cooling, warpage, and cycle time
• Create detailed 2D drawings, bill of materials, and electrode designs that meet GD&T standards
• Work with tool shops (domestic and international) to ensure manufacturability, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery
• Participate in design reviews, DFMs, and mold trials/debugging
• Support continuous improvement initiatives (scientific molding, automation integration, lightweighting, etc.)
• Mentor junior designers and apprentices when needed

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on injection mold design experience in a production environment
• Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Creo strongly preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of mold-flow simulation software
• Deep understanding of plastic materials (engineering resins, filled materials, elastomers) and their behavior in injection molding
• Experience with hot runner systems (Mold-Masters, Synventive, Incoe, Yudo, etc.), valve gates, and lifters/slides
• Familiarity with tool steel selection, heat treatment, and surface coatings
• Ability to read and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience and a proven track record of successful high-cavitation tools
• Experience designing molds for tight-tolerance medical or automotive parts
• Knowledge of automation and end-of-arm tooling integration
• Experience with Moldex3D or SigmaSoft (advanced level)
• Previous experience working with Asian or European tool makers
