About AGBU Innovation Studios:
AGBU Innovation Studios is an experiential learning environment where creativity meets technology. Rooted in design thinking and powered by the NuVuX methodology, our Studios empower students to explore real-world challenges through hands-on, open-ended projects.
This is not a traditional classroom, it’s a studio culture built on curiosity, collaboration, and confidence, enriched by Armenian language and cultural context.
The Position:
We are seeking a part-time Innovation Studios Coach to work directly with students in a hands-on, creative learning environment.
In this role, you will facilitate studio sessions, mentor students through the innovation process, and support makerspace activities, working an average of 25 hours per week, with flexibility depending on program schedules.
This position is ideal for educators, designers, engineers, makers, or graduate students who want meaningful, flexible work in education and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Studio Facilitation & Student Mentorship
- Facilitate studio sessions that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork
- Coach students through ideation, design, prototyping, and iteration
- Support student-driven projects blending art, science, and technology
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Makerspace Engagement
- Work hands-on with students using creative and fabrication tools
- Support safe use of tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, Arduino, and prototyping materials
- Help maintain an organized, functional, and inspiring studio space
Collaboration & Growth
- Collaborate with the Innovation Studios team on project delivery
- Help document student progress and creative outcomes
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities
Schedule & Commitment:
- Part-time, year-round position
- Average workload: ~25 hours per week
- Hours are primarily scheduled during weekday daytime hours (approximately 8am – 1pm), with additional hours during seasonal Saturday programs as needed
- Flexible weekly scheduling based on program cycles
- Occasional evening or weekend events (e.g., showcases), with advance notice
Requirements - Skills/Qualifications:
- Background or strong interest in STEM fields such as engineering, computer science, robotics, design, digital fabrication, or applied sciences
- Genuinely enthusiastic about education and youth development, and enjoy working with middle and high school students
- Believe learning happens best through hands-on, project-based experiences, not lectures or rote instruction
- Curious by nature and excited to explore new tools, technologies, and ideas alongside students
- Enjoy mentoring and coaching students through trial, error, iteration, and discovery
- Comfortable facilitating group work, encouraging collaboration, and helping students articulate their ideas
- Adaptable, patient, and able to think on your feet in a dynamic studio environment
- Organized, responsible, and attentive to safety when working with tools and equipment
- Experience with makerspace tools (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting, electronics, coding, or prototyping) is a strong plus
- Passion for STEM learning and a coaching mindset
