Inpatient Competency Restoration Case Manager FT

StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full-time Inpatient Competency Restoration Case Manager to join its outstanding Hospital team. The Inpatient Competency Restoration (ICR) Case Manager plays a vital role in supporting individuals deemed Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) within a secure inpatient forensic treatment setting. This position provides comprehensive case management services designed to support competency attainment, treatment engagement, and successful progression through the restoration process. Responsibilities include developing and monitoring individualized service plans, conducting individual and group case management interventions, coordinating care with multidisciplinary treatment team members, participating in treatment planning meetings, maintaining accurate and timely documentation, and facilitating communication among treatment providers, legal representatives, and other stakeholders as appropriate. Although the primary function of this role is competency restoration, the position functions as an integral member of the Sunrise Canyon treatment team and is expected to support individuals across all levels of care, as clinically indicated or assigned. The ICR Case Manager helps address psychosocial needs, remove barriers to treatment participation, and coordinate discharge and transition planning to ensure continuity of care and successful movement to the next appropriate legal or treatment setting.

Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized case management services to individuals adjudicated Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) in an inpatient competency restoration setting.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized recovery plans that support treatment engagement, competency attainment, and discharge readiness.
• Conduct individual and group interventions focused on psychosocial needs, coping skills, problem-solving, and treatment participation.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and contribute to recovery planning, progress reviews, and discharge planning.
• Coordinate care with psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff, social workers, legal representatives, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
• Assist individuals with identifying and addressing barriers to treatment, restoration progress, and successful transition back to their originating county.
• Facilitate communication between treatment teams, legal parties, and external resources as appropriate.
• Coordinate discharge and transition planning activities back to county of origin.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and clinically appropriate documentation in accordance with agency, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours.
• Ensure all required training and credentials are current and compliant with Center, federal, state, and local regulations, in addition to StarCare policies and procedures.
• Complete special departmental projects and other responsibilities with similar skill and work conditions as assigned.
• Support all activities in alignment with StarCare’s mission, values, and operational goals.

Schedule:

This is a full-time, on-site position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in a Human Services Field, Sociology, Psychology, Family Studies, etc.), AND two (2) years of full-time experience in a related field, required.
• Pursuing a Master’s Degree in a Human Service related field, preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred
• Must have a current Texas driver’s license and be insurable under the Center’s insurance.
• Must pass all pre-employment and annual screenings, including drug screen, criminal background, nursing registry, and MVR.
