We are looking for exceptional people to provide extraordinary care as a Nurse Supervisor in our Inpatient Department.
The Inpatient Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the day to day nursing operations within the Inpatient Department. The Supervisor assists the Director of Inpatient and Outpatient in assuming responsibility of administrative management of staff, scheduling and ensuring patient satisfaction, high quality clinical outcomes, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibility for employees including RN’s, CNA’s, and Unit Secretary within the Post-Surgical Unit.
Hours: Full time, 80 hours per pay period (2 weeks), typically Monday - Friday, weekends as needed, hours based on unit needs.
Job duties include but not limited to:

Responsible for ensuring quality delivery of care which includes determining the types and numbers of nursing personnel and staff necessary to ensure appropriate coverage. Shares resources including staff as needed with in the Inpatient/Outpatient Surgical area.

Manages staff including (but not limited to) staff meetings, staff competencies and the adherence to state regulations. Clearly defines staff expectations in congruence with unit goals.
- Monitors the performance of the nursing staff and conducts annual performance evaluations under the direction of the Director of Inpatient and Outpatient.

The Supervisor works in cooperation with the Inpatient or Outpatient Charge Nurse for the oversight of nursing staff, processes, communication and day-to-day operations.
- The Supervisor has a collaborative relationship with other supervisors, charge nurses, directors, and Service Line Leaders to ensure the safe and timely delivery of patient care using the nursing process as appropriate.
- Works closely with the surgeons and anesthesiologists to support and assist their department in areas as needed.

Utilizes a coaching approach in assisting staff in problem solving work issues and in adapting to the hospital culture.
- Evaluates staff competencies on an ongoing basis and intervenes to maintain quality. Assists in the development of staff skills in collaboration with the Education Department.

Supervisor responsibilities include the selection and hiring of staff in coordination with Human Resources, training, scheduling, assigning work, conducting performance appraisals, initiating corrective action, terminating, coaching, and staff development.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed to practice in the State of Nebraska. Current licensure from a compact state requires Nebraska to be declared as their primary state of residence within 30 days and must also obtain a Nebraska temporary permit or nursing license.
- Current BLS required at the time of hire.

At time of hire must have either ACLS or PALS and within 6 months must have both.

Previous supervisor or management experience preferred.

Three years of previous experience in an acute care or surgical care setting preferred.

Certification in department specialty preferred, with goal of certification in one year of hire.
