Title – Insert Operator

Responsibilities

  • Be able to learn such skills as staging, hand-finishing and inserting.

  • Be able to learn how to prep machines.

  • Must be able to read and understand the weekly schedule

  • Must be willing to be cross-trained and move to other areas when needed.

  • Assure that the weekly and daily schedule is completed.

  • Assure that work practices are in the guidelines of OSHA standards.

  • Load equipment with materials required for jobs such as carriers, pamphlets, and advertisements.

  • Operate equipment. Responsible for the quality and integrity of the finished work.

  • Observe peripheral equipment and error messages displayed on monitor of terminal to detect faulty output or machine stoppage.

  • Enter commands to correct error or stoppage and resume operations.

  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.

  • Clear equipment at end of operating run and review schedule to determine next assignment.

  • Record quality checks, scrap, and issues which occurred, such as down time, and actions taken on appropriate form and/or log.

  • Keep work areas clean and organized.

  • Work as part of the team.

  • Follow all company rules and policies.

  • Follow all safety rules and requirements.

  • Assure that all products are assembled to the highest standard of quality.

  • Must have strong attention to detail.

  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.

  • Schedule vacation so that department remains functional.

  • Ability to multi-task and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.

  • Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and item quantity.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Job Demands

To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to perform these demands:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up 55 pounds.

  • Standing for extended periods, typically 8-12 hours per shift.

  • Repetitive movements, including bending, reaching, twisting, and kneeling.

  • Exposure to loud noise and vibration.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to chemicals and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Moving mechanical parts

  • Moderate to high noise level which may require hearing protection.
