Instructional Assistant Paraprofessional - Secondary Library - MHS

SALARY: $18.53/hour
HOURS: 7.25 hours/day
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the secondary librarian in the daily operations of the library media center. Responsibilities include but are not limited to processing materials according to established library procedures; maintains circulation cycle; shelving books; maintaining files and records of library usage; assists students and staff in acquiring library skills; assists with inventories; maintains an inviting and education-oriented environment in the library.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience: Demonstrated successful experience working with youth or young adults; working in a school or library setting is preferred.
2. Knowledge: Working with technology such as computers, mobile devices, printers, scanners, copiers, and projectors; working knowledge of word processing and email programs, database software, spreadsheets, presentation programs, and Internet browsers and resources.
3. Skill: Good interpersonal and organizational skills; effective communication skills; speaking, reading and writing in English.
4. Ability: To establish effective working relationships with youth and adults; follow oral and written instructions; to reason and make judgements; to work in an environment with distractions and interruptions; to be flexible and patient during busy library times; to work with a wide range of student behaviors and academic abilities; fine motor dexterity and physical ability to carry, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 lbs.
5. Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must have completed two years of study (minimum of 32 credits) at an institution of higher education or have obtained an associate's degree or higher or have evidence of passing the ParaPro Praxis test.
