Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Instructional Assistant to join our vibrant team. An IA, under general supervision, provides assistance to the classroom teacher, performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of students in a classroom setting; assists in the implementation of instructional programs, including self-advocacy, behavior management, and academic instruction. An IA will support classroom teachers who will plan all lessons and hold primary responsibility for all aspects of instruction. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of neurodiverse learners.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in implementing individualized lesson plans aligned with students’ goals in literacy, math, and other core subjects
  • Support students with disabilities by providing tailored instructional strategies and behavioral management techniques
  • Foster a positive classroom atmosphere through effective classroom management and child engagement
  • Work closely with students to promote their social skills, independence, and self-advocacy
  • Help monitor student progress through observation, documentation, and proofreading of student work
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to adapt instructional materials for students with autism or other special needs

Requirements

  • Prior classroom experience working with children or students with disabilities is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of special education practices, behavior management, and classroom management techniques
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and families
  • Experience in literacy education, math instruction, tutoring or mentoring children is advantageous
  • Ability to work well with individuals with autism or other developmental differences
  • Passion for working with children and supporting their growth in a supportive learning setting

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
