Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) seeks an engaged, innovative and organized individual to join us in the role of Instructional Designer!
The Instructional Designer at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) designs, creates, and delivers impactful instructional materials that enhance learning and teaching experiences. This role involves navigating through curriculum design, educational technology consultation, and content delivery while ensuring alignment with best educational practices and accreditation standards. The position will liaise with various departments, resolve copyright issues, establish project timelines, and provide training to faculty and staff on course design and educational technologies. Key responsibilities also include assessment, evaluation, accreditation activities, participating in community events and professional development.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high degree of competency in end-to-end material development, detail orientation, prioritization, and policy and procedural compliance including accessibility. Effective communication will be integral to success in the role and includes functional use of medical education-specific vocabulary, collaboration, relationship building, problem solving and responsive customer service. We seek an adaptive individual that seeks to continuously improve quality and process in support of the educational mission.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and three years of related work experience OR
Master’s Degree and two year of related work experience.
Related Experience: Experience in the development of education materials (e.g. videos, eLearning modules, online cases, etc.) Platforms include: Adobe Captivate, movie editor software, learning management systems, YouTube, PowToon, Canva.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing instructional materials for a medical education setting
Experience in curricular mapping/design
Demonstrated competence in pedagogical learning theory
Experience using VR/AR/AI educational tools
Experience utilizing simulated and standardized patients as part of instructional design
