Instructional Support Assistant I -Higher Level Math

Job Summary

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Tutor and provide general assistance to students and community patrons in an atmosphere conducive to learning. Tutoring includes online, face-to-face, and group sessions.
• Mentor peer assistants.
• Continually improve knowledge of subject area(s) and tutoring skills.
• Assist or attend workshops and seminars for students, faculty, and staff.
• Encourage students and community patrons to develop confidence and become independent learners.
• Maintain work confidentiality.
• Encourage students to develop confidence and to become more independent learners.
• Maintain an attitude and environment conducive to learning
• Follow all rules, guidelines, and procedures
• Maintain and submit accurate time sheets
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications & Education

• Required:
  • Associate degree
  • Completion of Algebra through Calculus I (MAT1033 through MAC2311) with a grade of A or B.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.5.
• Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Math or Math related field.
  • One to three years of teaching or tutoring experience in the specialization area;
