Instructional Technology Specialist
Remote Position
Salary Range: $55,000-65,000
Job Summary:
The Instructional Technology Specialist role is responsible for designing, co-developing, and overseeing the delivery of high-quality, inclusive learning experiences that align with organizational and client needs. Working both independently and collaboratively with subject matter experts as well as internal and external constituents, the position leverages needs assessments, content analysis, and established instructional design frameworks to create and continuously improve synchronous and asynchronous curricula offered for professional development to a wide range of public and private sector clients. The role integrates emerging educational technologies and accessibility standards to model best practices in digital learning environments, while also supporting professional development initiatives and special projects. Success in this position requires strong project management skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments, and expertise in instructional technologies, learning management systems, and innovative pedagogical approaches.

Works independently as well as in conjunction with subject matter experts to design, develop, and implement high-impact, inclusive professional learning experiences with a lens on quality assurance indicators for online course design and instructional best practices.

Conducts and/or interprets needs assessments to effectively design short- and long-form asynchronous and synchronous curricula that are in alignment with clients’ needs and learning objectives, making recommendations for areas of opportunity and perceived performance gaps.

Uses content analysis to assess effectiveness of existing programming, providing feedback, improvements, and recommendations for continuous improvement initiatives.

Assists in the discovery, administration, and delivery of educational technologies (Web 2.0 tools, app-based software, AI, cloud-based services, and more) to effectively model instructional technology best practices at the CPL

Manages multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining close attention to detail and meeting short, frequently changing deadlines.

May be required to develop and lead or co-lead synchronous and asynchronous professional development workshops on a broad range of topics, including but not limited to digital pedagogy, emerging trends in online learning, digital accessibility, leadership best practices, and other areas of specialization within the CPL.

Lead and support special projects as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

3+ years demonstrated experience working with and/or managing learning management systems and in course/program development in the higher education, corporate, or K-12 environments, and/or overseeing curriculum development in online learning are required.

High level of proficiency in instructional technology tools used in Higher Education/K12/Corporate/Government learning environments for customer management (i.e., Salesforce, Airtable), performance assessments, curriculum management, training and professional development promotion and registration, and similar platforms is required.

High levels of proficiency and independence in project management and desktop software, including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite/Google Suite, multimedia and graphic design software, web conferencing platforms, badging and certification platforms and apps, and AI management and development tools.

Moderate proficiency and comfort with set up, facilitation, live support, and engaging techniques used in live online web conferencing, including webinars, class support, and large- and small-scale collaborative meetings.

Demonstrated success with implementation of innovative pedagogical techniques for content development, (i.e., ADDIE, backwards design, UDL, and others) to ensure goodness-of-fit among content and learners. A professional portfolio may be required.

Proficiency in accessibility compliance standards (i.e., WCAG, ADA, Section 508, VPAT, and other relevant accessibility-compliance and best practice guidelines within online learning environments), demonstrated through completed trainings, certifications, and more.

Education and Experience:

Must possess an accredited Master’s degree in Education, Instructional or Learning Design, Computer Science, Psychology, or related field.

3+ years full-time experience in instructional design, online learning, or a related field in corporate, government, higher education, or K12 is required.

Experience teaching and/or co-teaching academic courses, professional development workshops, and/or other training programs in both synchronous and asynchronous formats.
Preferred Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

Familiarity or experience with the goals and mission of OLC.

Familiarity with webpage-editing technologies and languages, including HTML, CSS, and common content management systems (i.e., Wix, WordPress) preferred.

Knowledge and experience with OLC Center for Professional Learning (CPL) programs & the OLC Quality Scorecard Suite, and/or quality assurance platforms is required.

Verbal and written Spanish fluency preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a remote home-office setting. The employee must maintain a workspace conducive to uninterrupted work, with reliable high-speed internet access.
