WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The Instructor, Demand Response Operations is responsible for the development, coordination, and management of Demand Response instruction programs for all departments. Develop and provide technical and operations training materials and plans in close coordination with necessary stakeholders. Implement and track all training for all Demand Response positions including operators and dispatchers for the operations service providers.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

- Develop training programs and supporting materials in coordination with division leadership for all roles within the Demand Response and Innovative Mobility division. This includes participation in the development and testing of new software systems to ensure they meet the need of all end users.
- Report to department leadership on the status of trends, training initiatives, staff development outcomes, and future training initiative planning.
- Review division metrics, customer input, collision and incident trends, stakeholder feedback, key performance indicators, and other inputs to identify areas where further training is needed and make recommendations to include updating material to address the identified issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ADA rules and regulations related to all areas of Demand Response operations and ensure all employees of the division are educated on the rules and regulations.
- Ensure all training logs are kept up to date and all training materials are current with version control.
- Develop and prepare training courses, lesson plans, and conduct both classroom and in-field instruction as well as train-the-trainer instruction.
- Develop materials utilizing creative training methods employing a robust toolkit of training approaches and materials (e.g., instructor-led, eLearning, simulation, multimedia elements, gamification) to support various learning styles and needs for adult learners.
- Develop, oversee, and conduct technical, compliance, and mandatory training courses.
- Conduct student/employee evaluations according to performance standards. Recommend progressive actions for staff, operators, and mechanics to include dismissal or disqualification. Deliver progressive coaching.
- Mentor employees post-training and monitor their work to address potential issues. Review staff and service provider performance for adherence to standards.
- Provides technical expertise in the assigned area(s).
- Prepares various complex reports and correspondence.
- Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by ensuring staff follows safety and security policies, considers safety in every action, and ensures safety and security concerns are reported.
- Perform other position related duties as required and/or assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Human Resources, or related field. Related experience may be substituted for a degree on a year for year basis up to four years.
- Three (3) years’ experience delivering training programs, curriculum, and classes for a medium or large organization.
- Progressive experience in training, teaching, education administration, curriculum development, implementing training/educational programs for a broad range of audiences, or similar experience.
- Three (3) years’ experience in supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Transit experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of transit authority operations; safety, labor, and transit regulations; and training principles and practices.
- Ability to work a varied work schedule, sometimes with minimal notice.
- Ability to manage inter-departmental projects, supervise employees, develop curriculum and training materials.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed in an office environment and in the field with some exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. This position works with multiple project timelines and is responsible for managing employees performing work of a complex nature.
Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach vertically for overhead use as well as horizontally. Must be able to use a telephone or headset equipment. Incumbent must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs., perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day, and function in an environment with constant interruptions.

Mobility Status:
As a Stationed position, the incumbent is expected to be assigned an individual workspace. Expected to work in the office 5 days a week. Mobility status is subject to change at any time based on business needs or organizational decisions. This role is based in Austin, Texas and requires relocation to the Austin, Texas area prior to start date.
