Full-Time Tenure Track Opportunity Year 2026-2027 beginning in Fall 2026
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports student learning by providing instruction for Education and other courses within the department of History and Social Sciences in multiple modalities; primary teaching responsibilities in Education include at least 9 contact hours each semester in Education- related courses, with remaining credit hours dedicated to teaching courses outside of Education.

Establishes clear course objectives; engaging class activities; effective presentations of learning materials; fair grading practices; timely responses to students; and a positive classroom atmosphere.

Handles a typical teaching load of fifteen (15) contact hours per semester. Related responsibilities include maintaining five (5) office hours per week for student advisement and tutoring, and participating in departmental, divisional, and College-wide activities.

Participates in department, division, and college-wide service opportunities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in Education from an accredited program

State-certified educator holding a standard license (CEAS or Standard)

Three (3) years of K-12 classroom teaching experience

Three (3) years of college teaching experience

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

An earned doctorate in education from an accredited program

Additional graduate course work in one of the following disciplines: History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy

Community college teaching experience, including delivery of interdisciplinary courses that may include African American Studies, Political Science or Anthropology

Experience using diverse, student-centered instructional methods that address a variety of learning styles

Experience incorporating current digital technologies in both face-to-face and online pedagogies

Knowledge of the College’s Mission and Vision

Commitment to a culture of assessment and evidence-informed teaching
