About the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Health
The School of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Health delivers interdisciplinary programs that combine creative practice, critical thinking, and industry relevance.
Within the School, the BCM program integrates visual communication, media production, and storytelling, preparing students for careers in creative industries. The Visual Communication Design stream focuses on developing students' ability to apply design thinking across digital, interactive, and social contexts.

About the Role
The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) invites applications for an Instructor in Visual Communication Design.
This is a teaching‑intensive role supporting the growth of the Bachelor of Communication and Media (BCM) program. The successful candidate will deliver studio‑based teaching and contribute to the development of students' creative, technical, and conceptual design capabilities.
The role requires a strong balance of practical design experience and teaching capability, with particular emphasis on studio pedagogy, applied design skills, and the effective use of industry‑standard design tools.
Teaching Responsibilities
The Associate Lecturer will deliver undergraduate teaching, including subjects such as:
Design Foundation (Studio Practice & Typography)
Interaction Design
Social Impact Design
Motion Design
Professional Design Practice
Responsibilities include:
Delivering lectures, tutorials, and studio‑based teaching
Facilitating practical learning using industry‑standard design tools (Adobe Creative Cloud)
Assessing student work and providing constructive feedback
Supporting student development in both conceptual and technical design skills
You are a design professional and educator with a strong grounding in visual communication design and a commitment to student‑centred studio teaching.
Essential requirements:
Master's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication Design, Media Design, or related field
Demonstrated teaching experience in higher education (minimum 1 year) OR strong evidence of teaching capability
Experience delivering studio‑based and software‑led design courses
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and contemporary design tools
Clear understanding of design pedagogy and studio learning environments
Industry experience (strongly preferred):
Minimum 3 years' professional experience in a design role (e.g. graphic designer, visual designer, media designer)
Experience in creative, media, or marketing environments
Portfolio demonstrating applied design work
