Key Responsibilities And Duties For Instrument Fitter
-
Instrument Installation: Accurately mount and install field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters, and analyzers) on process lines, equipment, or control panels as per technical drawings and project specifications.

Tubing & Pipework: Fabricate, route, and install impulse and hydraulic tubing/piping for instrumentation. Execute swaging, threading, and connections for copper, stainless steel, and pneumatic lines ensuring integrity and compliance.

Instrument Cabling & Wiring: Properly lay, terminate, and connect instrument signal and power cables in junction boxes, marshalling panels, and control cabinets with reference to wiring schedules and loop diagrams.

Instrument Calibration & Testing: Assist in field calibration, loop checking, and functional testing of various process instruments in accordance with standards and quality procedures.

Commissioning Support: Work with engineers during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases. Support troubleshooting and remediation of instrument-related issues during site activities.

Documentation: Record installation, calibration, and test results. Ensure proper marking and tagging according to instrumentation index and project documentation.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Strictly follow HSE standards, safe work practices, and use of PPE in all workshop and site activities.

Teamwork & Communication: Collaborate efficiently with the engineering, electrical, and QA/QC teams to deliver high-quality installations.
Required Experience
-
2–5 years of proven work experience as an Instrument Fitter in instrumentation installation, calibration, and maintenance preferably within oil & gas, power, process, or industrial automation sectors.

Familiarity with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of field instruments, control valves, and instrument fittings.

Familiar with working from P&IDs, loop diagrams, and isometric drawings.

Experience in adhering to industrial safety standards within plant or construction site environments.
Essential Skills & Competencies For Instrument Fitter

Strong technical aptitude in use of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.

Reading and interpreting schematic diagrams and technical drawings.

Solid experience with instrument tubing, installation standards, and plant safety.
