Overview
A leading team is seeking a skilled and motivated Instrumentation & Control Designer for a contract role focused on designing technically advanced control systems. The successful candidate will contribute to Integrated Control & Safety System deliverables across dynamic projects, particularly in the areas of Carbon Capture and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCS/CCUS). Candidates should bring strong CAD skills, comprehensive experience with global engineering codes, and thrive in collaborative, cross-disciplinary environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Integrated Control & Safety System (ICSS) drawings, incorporating input from system vendors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Produce a wide range of instrument engineering deliverables, including:
- Instrument and fire/gas layout drawings.
- Instrument installation drawings.
- Cabinet and junction box termination diagrams.
- Cable routing diagrams, cable lists, material takeoffs, and loop diagrams.
- Support the full project lifecycle for control and automation systems, including technical collaboration on project design, development, and installation phases.
- Review and develop proposals, ensuring precise material, equipment, and delivery information is included.
- Share technical knowledge to promote strong teamwork and collaborative problem-solving.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices and lessons learned.
- Serve as Project Lead, Drafting Checker, or Project Coordinator as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- Certification in instrument control systems engineering or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of experience in control system design.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks); experience with 3D modeling in Navisworks and AVEVA is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise with major international engineering and safety codes: API, ANSI, IEEE, ISO, EN, ATEX, IEC.
- Sound knowledge of Hazardous Area certification and practical installation requirements for field instrumentation.
- Capable of instrument cable and cable tray layout, as well as related installation activities.
- Exceptional attention to detail in design and documentation processes.
- Ability to work independently, applying strong engineering judgment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive, self-starting, and positive attitude with a demonstrated ability to succeed in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
