Instrumentation Control System Engineer

Responsibilities:


  • Work in compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Standards
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and support PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems
  • Provide Industrial Data Center (IDC) support for automation systems, including servers, historians, and virtualization platforms
  • Diagnose control logic, I/O, and communication network faults
  • Manage and maintain industrial automation networks, switches, fiber optics, and SFP modules
  • Perform system backups, restorations, version control, and change management
  • Support plant shutdowns, startups, upgrades, and automation modifications
  • Optimize alarms, trends, and control system performance
  • Coordinate with Operations, Electrical, Reliability, OEMs, and IT teams
  • Ensure compliance with plant safety, cybersecurity, and automation standards
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, changes, and system documentation


Qualification Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Control Systems Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Automation Engineering
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Siemens and Rockwell Automation PLC platforms
  • Ability to read and interpret control logic, network architecture diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and fault-finding skills
  • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to safety and Zero Harm
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Relevant technical certifications or additional training in PLC, SCADA, Automation, or Control Systems (advantageous)

Experience and Skills Requirements:


  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in PLC & SCADA systems within mining, process plants, or heavy industry
  • Proven experience in PLC & SCADA systems, preferably within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industry
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens and Rockwell PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs
  • Experience supporting IDC / control system server environments
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet, Profibus, Modbus, etc.)
  • Experience with troubleshooting plant upsets and automation-related downtime
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence
