Job Title: Instrumentation Engineer

Industry: Chemical / Pharmaceutical / Biotech

Job Purpose:

Responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting instrumentation and control systems used in chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotech manufacturing processes. Ensures compliance with industry standards (GMP, GLP, FDA, MHRA) and supports reliable, safe, and efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Instrumentation & Control Systems

Design, select, and install process instruments (sensors, analyzers, transmitters, flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature controllers, PLCs, SCADA, DCS).

Configure and maintain automation systems to ensure smooth and accurate process control.

Perform instrument calibration, loop checking, and functional testing.

2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance of critical instruments.

Diagnose and resolve issues with instrumentation, automation, and control systems.

Maintain spare parts inventory for instrumentation.

3. Compliance & Documentation

Prepare SOPs, calibration reports, and validation protocols.

Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, MHRA, and ISO standards.

Support audits and inspections with required technical documentation.

4. Process Optimization & Safety

Work with process engineers to improve efficiency, yield, and product quality.

Implement safety interlocks, alarms, and emergency shutdown systems.

Monitor environmental and safety compliance instruments (emission analyzers, effluent monitoring).

5. Project Support

Collaborate with R&D, production, and engineering teams for new equipment installation.

Support commissioning, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and validation of instrumentation systems.

Assist in technology transfer for biotech processes (fermentation, purification, clean utility systems like WFI, pure steam).

Key Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, DCS, and industrial automation.

Expertise in calibration and troubleshooting of field instruments.

Understanding of biotech processes (fermenters, bioreactors, chromatography skids).

Familiar with clean room instrumentation and utility systems (HVAC, purified water, compressed air).

Knowledge of GMP, GDP, FDA, and EHS requirements.

Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Good communication and documentation skills.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: B.E./B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation, or related field.

Experience: 2–8 years in instrumentation and control systems in chemical, pharma, or biotech industries.

Exposure to biotech manufacturing plants (fermentation, upstream/downstream, clean utilities) preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
