Job Responsibilities of Instrumentation Engineer :
- Design, specify, and select appropriate instrumentation (e.g., sensors, transmitters, gauges, flow meters, analyzers) and control systems (e.g., PLC, DCS, SCADA) for new projects or system upgrades.
- Develop and review technical documentation, including P&ID's (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), loop diagrams, cause and effect matrices, and functional specifications.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of field instruments and control hardware.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and process teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Perform detailed inspections of newly installed and existing instruments and wiring to verify compliance with design specifications, industry standards (e.g., ISA, IEC), and regulatory codes.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for control panels and critical instruments.
- Knowledge of HT & LT Motors/ Penals, Transformer EDP, VFD, RTD, Thermocouple ,Fabrication etc.
- Knowledge about starters like DOL, RDOL, Star-Delta etc.
- Calculation of power requirement for operation of pumping machinaries, lighting system. TPI for electrical equipments. (Inspection of motor, HT Panel, LT panel, S/D & DOL panel, Transformer, HT & LT APFC capacitor panels and other switchgear equipment.)
- Other Routine work of departmental.
- Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs and applying knowledge of electricity and materials.
Skills and Qualifications of Instrumentation Engineer :
- Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.
- Proficiency with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Emerson, Honeywell).
- Deep understanding of process variables (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, level) and their associated measurement technologies.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus, Profibus).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including P&IDs and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of HT, LT, TRANSPORTER etc. Inspection and maintenance.
- Good knowledge of varying tool types and their uses.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to work to agreed deadlines and timescales
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety guidelines
- Ability to prioritize own time and workload
