Associate Attorney – Insurance Defense

About the Position:
A regional law firm is seeking a motivated and proactive Associate Attorney with at least three years of experience practicing insurance defense in New York State. This position involves in-person court appearances throughout the New York City metropolitan area, taking depositions, handling motion practice, and maintaining regular communication with clients and claims representatives. Depending on the candidate’s interests, the role may also include work on municipal liability/Section 1983 matters and insurance coverage analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in state and federal courts across New York City, Long Island, Westchester, and Rockland.
• Manage and litigate automobile and premises liability cases from inception through trial and appeal.
• Conduct discovery, depositions, motion practice, settlement negotiations, trial preparation, and appellate work.
• Provide timely and detailed reports to clients and insurance carriers.
• Accurately record billable hours.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of three years of experience in insurance defense in New York State.
• Admission to the New York State Bar (federal admission a plus but not required).
• Ability to appear regularly in courts throughout the New York City metropolitan area.
• Strong litigation, communication, and case management skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
