L&W Recruiting, on behalf of a confidential litigation defense firm, seeks a Partner‑level Insurance Defense Attorney to join its Philadelphia office. Location: Philadelphia, PA
Position overview:
- Lead and manage a docket of insurance defense matters from intake through resolution, with responsibility for case strategy and client communications.
- Develop and implement resolution strategies tailored to case circumstances, including risk transfer, dispositive motions, negotiation, ADR, and trial preparation.
- Conduct and defend depositions, participate in arbitrations, attend hearings, and appear in court as necessary.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other court filings with precision and timeliness.
- Collaborate in firm‑wide strategy and quality‑review processes and mentor junior attorneys as appropriate.
- Support and sustain a trial‑ready culture through issue‑driven discovery and focused case preparation.
- Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, co‑counsel, and internal teams, maintaining organized case files and calendaring deadlines.
Required qualifications:
- Juris Doctor and active license to practice law in Pennsylvania.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of insurance defense litigation experience, with prior Partner‑level or comparable leadership experience.
- Proven litigation skills, including deposition practice, motion drafting and practice, and courtroom advocacy.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex caseloads independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication, client‑management, and organizational skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Portable book of business is welcome but not required.
- Trial experience and a record of favorable pretrial outcomes in complex matters.
- Experience with data‑driven case management and efficiency metrics.
