Duties
- Verify patient insurance information and eligibility prior to appointments.
- Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9 and ICD-10 standards.
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies and obtain necessary authorizations.
- Maintain detailed records of insurance verifications and communications.
- Collaborate with Medical office staff to ensure seamless patient care and billing processes.
- Stay updated on managed care policies and changes in insurance regulations.
- Assist in training new staff members on insurance verification procedures as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dental office or medical office setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding practices, including ICD-9 and ICD-10.
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes and managed care systems.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and insurance representatives.
- Proficient in using office software and electronic health record systems.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
