Insurance Verification Specialist

Job Overview
We are in search of a dedicated candidate to join our team as an Insurance Specialist to support our fast-paced Retina Specialty practice! This role is critical to ensuring accurate insurance verification, eligibility confirmation, and timely authorization and referral processing to support seamless patient care and revenue cycle performance.

This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who is comfortable working with insurance portals, payer policies, and direct communication with insurance representatives.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits via payer portals and phone calls
• Confirm active coverage, plan details, deductibles, co-pays, and out-of-pocket responsibilities
• Obtain and track prior authorizations for procedures, imaging, and medications
• Communicate with insurance carriers to clarify coverage policies and authorization requirements
• Review and interpret payer guidelines to ensure compliance
• Document verification and authorization details accurately in the EMR system
• Coordinate with front desk and clinical teams to ensure all required approvals are in place prior to services
• Identify and escalate issues related to coverage limitations or authorization delays

Requirements

• Experience in medical insurance verification (strongly preferred)
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems (preferred)
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical environment
• Ability to communicate efficiently with peers and others
