Incumbent serves as Intake Officer for Community Corrections, responsible for conducting initial intake appointments on clients across all programs (primarily pretrial), and primary supervision of the Specialized Driving Privilege and Home Detention Transfer Outs caseloads.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Conducts initial appointments for pretrial clients who report after being given supervision conditions. Goes over the terms of supervision, explains the pretrial release program, and assigns appointments to case management staff at the direction of the Pretrial Team Lead. Conducts pretrial assessments with fidelity as needed at the direction of the Pretrial Team Lead. Assess individuals utilizing the IRAS-PAT to determine risk and supervision level upon arrest. Utilize other assessment tools deemed necessary in accordance to the individual’s particular needs or the nature of the crime (ie: domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health). Preparation of reports to provide the supervising court with vital information to determine appropriate supervision level if released.Supervises administrative pretrial clients by collecting mandatory data and conducting periodic reports to ensure no new arrests/charges have been made/filed on individuals currently under pretrial supervision. Ensures accurate contact information is maintained in the client’s file and answers any questions from administrative pretrial clients regarding the timing and place of their upcoming Court hearings. Conducts initial appointments for post-conviction clients who report after being Court Ordered to Boone County Community Corrections supervision. Explains the rules of their assigned program, ensures equipment is installed and functioning properly, and assigns appointments to case management staff at the direction of the Assistant Director. Supervises all clients on the Specialized Driving Privileges (SDP) program from intake to conclusion of their SDP term. Meets with SDP clients for their initial intake and referral, maintains record of SDP progress reports, and reports violations to the assigned Prosecutor as necessary. Collaborates with referral partners to send and receive information regarding the client and their SDP term. Maintains adequate case files of individuals who have transferred their supervision outside of Boone County and reports any violations of transfer out supervision to the Courts, including testifying to said violations during court proceedings.Serves as an assistant to the Intake Analyst for any coverage required while they are on PTO, attending Court, in the field, or otherwise out of the office for a determined period of time.Models pro-social behavior and uses evidence-based methods of communication and interaction with offenders.Periodically assists other department personnel as needed, such as assisting with collecting urine samples, assisting with home visits/field sweeps for offender compliance, collecting/analyzing statistics, and assisting with disciplinary hearings. Periodically attends training seminars as required or as needed, some of which require travel outside of Boone County and potentially out of state. Serves on 24-hour call for emergencies.Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
DIFFICULTY OF WORK: Incumbent operates according to department policies and procedures, exercising independent judgment in interpreting precedent, assessing program participants, and adapting procedures to fit specific situations. As a result of the duties associated with this job, there is the potential of becoming exposed to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious diseases. To safeguard employees and eliminate the liability placed on Boone County, employees working in this position shall be certified in communicable disease training and drug testing procedures. RESPONSIBILITY: Incumbent applies standardized practices to individual cases, referring unusual/unprecedented situations to supervisor as required. Incumbent receives indirect or occasional supervision, with work primarily reviewed for compliance with department policies and legal requirements. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS: Incumbent maintains frequent communication with co-workers, other County departments, program participants, Department of Correction, other county community corrections agencies, for purposes of exchanging information, explaining policies and procedures, and providing supervision. Incumbent reports directly to Assistant Director. Incumbent may receive daily tasks and duty direction from the Pretrial Team Lead, but does not report to the Pretrial Team Lead in regards to personnel or staff issues. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Incumbent performs duties in an office environment, in a correctional facility, at job and activity sites, and driving a vehicle, involving sitting and walking at will, pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying objects weighing under 25 pounds, speaking clearly, keyboarding, bending, reaching, hearing communication, depth and color perception, close and far vision, handling/grasping/fingering objects, and exposure to potentially violent/hostile program participants.
