The Opportunity

The Intake Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the operational efficiency of CFUF’s programs by serving as a primary point of contact for prospective applicants and enrollees. This role ensures a seamless intake experience by collecting, documenting, and maintaining accurate participant information while building rapport and trust with individuals entering CFUF services. The Intake Specialist works closely with internal teams to support case management efforts and enhance applicant satisfaction through timely, professional, and responsive engagement.

Additionally, this position’s broader responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the initial point of contact for individuals seeking services, providing accurate information and guidance on program eligibility and enrollment
  • Conducting intake interviews and assessments to collect essential participant information and determine program fit
  • Maintaining consistent communication with applicants to confirm continued interest and readiness for program participation
  • Supporting case management teams by ensuring accurate and timely documentation of participant data
  • Contributing to a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment for all members, partners, and stakeholders


What to Expect from This Opportunity

  • Identify and engage prospective CFUF applicants and enrollees through outreach and relationship-building efforts.
  • Track all new referrals and complete intake assessments within 24 hours of initial contact to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Design and administer surveys to gather key insights from employer partners, including job leads, member recruitment and retention, and overall satisfaction.
  • Support the planning and coordination of workshops, programs, and engagement activities for members and employer partners.
  • Assist with marketing and outreach efforts to support new and existing employer partnerships.
  • Collaborate closely with the Account Specialist to support recruitment strategies for employer partners and program participants.
  • Serve as an ambassador for CFUF by representing the organization to diverse audiences, including members, staff, employer partners, researchers, and funders.
  • Support DHS and SNAP E&T initiatives by identifying eligible applicants and facilitating the enrollment process.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and organized member files and case notes within the CFUF database.
  • Assist the Senior Manager in compiling and coordinating data for grant reporting and program evaluation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support program operations and organizational goals.


Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM—this position offers one day of remote work per week


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional education or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in intake, direct service delivery, or a related field.
  • Experience conducting intake interviews, assessments, and providing support in areas such as homelessness, mental health, and/or substance use.
  • Knowledge of community-based resources and service agencies supporting disadvantaged individuals required.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team-based environment with diverse populations.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and attend meetings and/or appointments required.

  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport, establish trust, and effectively engage individuals from diverse educational and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Experience conducting intake assessments, interviews, and providing direct service support in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain timely follow-up, and ensure accuracy in documentation and data entry.
  • Strong data management skills with experience maintaining case notes and working within electronic databases (e.g., ETO, Apricot, or similar systems).
  • Knowledge of community-based resources and experience supporting individuals facing barriers such as homelessness, mental health, and/or substance use challenges.
  • Experience supporting outreach, recruitment, and engagement efforts across community and partner networks.
  • Comfortable representing the organization as an ambassador to members, partners, and stakeholders with professionalism and confidence.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Must be resourceful, resilient, and tenacious with a high level of personal integrity and passion for CFUF’s mission to accelerate social and economic opportunities and advocate for policies that promote equity and racial justice.
