Integrated Preschool Teacher

License Preferred: PK-3 or PK-5, K-12 Intervention Specialist with Preschool Endorsement (or the ability to take the coursework to obtain the license/endorsement).


Garfield Preschool is seeking a Preschool Special Education Teacher to work with students ages 35 with global developmental delays and low-incidence disabilities. This position focuses on providing play-based, developmentally appropriate instruction while supporting student growth across all domains.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide direct, play-based instruction to preschool students with diverse developmental needs
  • Serve as a member of the play-based assessment team
  • Act as case manager for assigned students, including developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Conduct and contribute to Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs) in compliance with state and federal requirements
  • Utilize adopted early childhood curriculum and evidence-based practices to support student growth through academics and play
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with all special education requirements


Qualifications:

  • Must have appropriate, valid certification or license to teach the content area in both teaching areas as recognized by the Ohio Department of Education.
  • Thorough knowledge, understanding and appreciation for the learning process and the nature and growth of children.
  • Proficiency in teaching, i.e., demonstrate ability to adapt his/her knowledge of educational methodology and variety of instructional techniques for the benefit of students in the learning environment. Scholarly competence in the structure and content of the subject area for which (s)he is responsible.
  • Ability to communicate with students and parents the manner in which the curriculum relates to them.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work and interact with other staff members, students, and administration in a manner that is cooperative and productive.
