Integration and Data Conversion Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:

The Integration and Data Conversion Engineer role is to support and guide clients through the data migration and data integration project components of new Edupoint implementations as well as data manipulation, management, reporting, and/or analytics activities for existing clients.

JOB SUMMARY:

Assist the Project Manager and Director of Data Services in the implementation of all Edupoint customers. Ensure that Edupoint’s implementation methodology is adhered to in all implementations. Provide technical leadership and manage the data conversion & 3rd party integration process in its entirety as required. Own the development and maintenance of Competitive Conversion Toolkits which streamline the approach to data migration for those new customers migrating from Edupoint’s commonly encountered competitive SIS solutions. Maintain focus and commitment to meeting demands of project and data conversion schedules, while also ensuring Edupoint meet’s the highest standards of data quality for new implementations. Provide creative solutions to data management, 3rd party integration and associated reporting opportunities that are presented through new implementations or for existing Edupoint customers.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Manage and perform all data conversion/migration duties required during implementation which includes preliminary data reviews, execution of data loading using assigned loading tools, reviewing and analyzing results of the data loads, troubleshooting data load and data quality issues, leading the collective data load team through the results and analysis of all test and Go Live loading activities
  • Provide technical leadership on all new implementations or existing customer use cases where a non-standard, creative technical approach to data manipulation, extraction from competitive SIS solutions, management, or reporting may be required
  • Provide technical leadership, recommendations, requirements, and guidance as it relates to the toolset (e.g. Generic Conversion, Competitor conversion toolkits, Reporting, Synchronization, and Integration solutions) utilized for new implementations and existing customers by the Data Services team
  • Assist with other technical duties related to implementation of 3rd party software integration
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert in all technical areas required for new implementations as it relates to data migration and 3rd party integrations
  • Identify and proactively address any potential risks to the project, as it relates to data conversion, 3rd party integration, and other technical areas related to data management and reporting
  • Maintain timely communication with customers and internal stakeholders throughout the Implementation Project
  • Execute data migration activities as per the published and approved Data Conversion Plan and Implementation Project Plan
  • Report project status to supervisor on a regular basis
  • Facilitate and ensure adherence to project plans based on Edupoint’s implementation methodology for all implementations
  • Identify and proactively address any potential risks to the data migration and 3rd party integration projects, as well as respond to all other data & reporting needs of the new customer as they arise

Requirements:



JOB REQUIREMENTS-KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge:
  • K-12 education knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of student information systems preferred
  • Extensive experience with database management systems (MS SQL Server or Oracle)
  • Extensive experience in the creation of SQL scripts for the purpose of manipulating data
  • Skills:
  • Excellent verbal/written communication required
  • Attention to detail required
  • Abilities:
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks
  • Ability to travel periodically

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Microsoft Certifications (Windows, IIS, MSSQL) preferred
  • Oracle certifications a plus


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies, occasionally lifting files, objects or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. The position requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, copier and other office equipment as necessary. Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone and video conferencing contacts. Visual acuity must be sufficient to allow working on computer screens. Ability to work in an environment with moderate noise which can be fast paced and project intensive. Travel in the performance of duties may be required.
