Job Description

Our Interior Design Studio, located in Downtown Campbell, specializes in high-end residential design projects. We are looking for a detail-oriented Interior Design Assistant / CAD Drafter to join our team.

This position is currently structured as an Independent Contractor (1099) position. Depending on business needs and mutual fit, it may transition into a part-time employee position with payroll in the future.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of drafting experience at an interior design or architecture firm
• Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design preferred (not required)
• High School diploma required
• Proficiency in AutoCAD LT
• SketchUp and/or 3ds Max experience preferred (not required)
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle (mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rates)

Responsibilities

• Create construction documents and specifications
• Produce space plans, elevations, custom cabinetry drawings, and design details
• Create 3D renderings (preferred but not required)
• Collaborate with the senior designer on material selections and design specifications
• Prepare presentation boards and client materials
• Communicate with architects, contractors, showrooms, vendors, and manufacturers
• Willingness to assist with occasional project-related errands, including visits to showrooms, material pick-ups, deliveries, site visits, and other tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Proficient in AutoCAD LT
• SketchUp and/or 3ds Max experience preferred (not required)
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of interior design principles and detailing
• Enthusiasm for design, furniture, materials, and architecture
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines

Position Details

• Located in Downtown Campbell
• Hourly compensation: $28.00 – $32.00 per hour, based on experience

Growth Opportunity:
A second interior designer within our collaborative office is also looking for an assistant with similar qualifications. For the right candidate, this could potentially develop into a position supporting both designers, creating an opportunity for up to four days per week (approximately 7–8 hours per day).
