Laken Design is seeking a design-savvy and detail-oriented AutoCAD and Visualization Technician to join their growing residential design firm. You will be instrumental in translating conceptual ideas into precise technical drawings and plans using CAD software. Your expertise will support a variety of interior design projects, ensuring accuracy and clarity throughout the development process.
The Position
- Work closely with principal designers to convert sketches, mood boards, and conceptual ideas into accurate technical drawings
- Produce detailed and accurate 2D interior and exterior construction documents, including floor plans, demo plans, reflected ceiling plans, electrical layouts, plumbing plans and elevations with reference notes using CAD
- Produce high quality renderings and visualizations using AI and 3D platforms
- Create detailed drawings for custom cabinetry and millwork
- Modify existing drawings and renderings based on client feedback, site changes, or design revisions from designers and contractors
- Accurately measure and notate dimensions onsite to create and subsequently update or create as-built drawings
- Ensure all drawings adhere to local building codes and industry standards
- Maintain organized CAD libraries and client files to stay aligned with firm's standard project processes
- Stay current with advancements in AI visualization tools and integrate them into design workflow
- Skillfully and thoughtfully communicate and coordinate with the team, clients, builders, architects, and vendors in a timely manner to resolve issues
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience with AutoCAD, with advanced skills and ability to interpret and prepare construction documents and schematics in 2D residential drawings
- Experience with Mac OS, Google Suites, Adobe Creative Suites
- Familiarity with AI rendering tools and 3D visualization software
- Strong understanding of residential construction including materials, millwork detailing, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) coordination
- Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architectural Technology, or related field from an accredited school, with 3+ years of drafting experience
- Have a deep sense of partnership and ownership of projects with designers
- Ability to take initiative and work well under pressure while juggling and prioritizing multiple projects, often against tight deadlines
- Highly professional and organized, with extreme attention to detail, and strong writing skills
- Ability to find thoughtful solutions to design and project challenges
- Team player with a positive, open minded, and adaptive attitude
- Must reside in Pittsburgh area
Hours & Compensation based on experience
Full-Time position
Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
